ETHOS

CREATIVITY

Picture
We want to live a life where we take action in loving Jesus and loving others. We want to take action in joining God in restoring and recreating this broken world.

We are independent beings that can create and should create. We know the most creative creator; we want to see the church as an insanely creative space. Nurturing and cheering on all creativity.

We want to use this gift to remain liquid and to keep moving with contemporary culture. Our gathering spaces for one are places that foster creativity, that are creative, symbolic, multi-sensory and inspirational.

We like to think of our communities as blank canvasses so within them we intentionally create space and support for new crazy ideas and new unexpected incarnations of the gospel story.

Our gathering spaces are liquid in-between-places that keep on changing and moulding around the people that gather there. They reflect our experience of God and inspire towards God and people.

Walking with Jesus is less like grape juice and more like aged wine.
Less like sweetener and more like honey.
Less like instant coffee and more like freshly ground beans.
Less like fluorescent lighting and more like a 100 candles.
Less like a photocopy and more like a painting.
Less like a standard loaf and more like a handmade bagel.
Less like polyester and more like cotton.
Less like ready-made and more like home-made.
Less like deodorant and more like perfume.

Entering into the Jesus and others life is entering into a creative, rich, textured, layered and faceted world. We react to this creative God with our creativity; we communicate this seemingly simple yet infinitely complex message of loving Jesus and loving others in everything we do, create and in the ways we gather.

AUTHENTICITY

Picture
To live authentic lives is about being real in our relationship with Jesus and others. Faith is about having our hope in Christ’s resurrection so that we can make it through the difficult times, knowing that in him we too will be raised and in him we are already part of God’s new world and his great story. It is about being truthful, real about your situation and finding true joy and love in your relationship with God often in spite of suffering.

‘Is it truly from the Master craftsman? Is it authentic?’ Living an authentic life also means a return to your true creator and living in the way that he meant for us to live. It is about rediscovering your gifts, strengths, purpose and yourself.
We want to be true to our original design and God’s original intent.

Building authentic relationships with others is important to us. Besides love, authentic relationships should have no other agenda.

SIMPLICITY

Picture
‘Simplicity is not always the best, but the best is always simple.’

As an organism we aim to remain as simple a structure as possible, so that we can change quickly as the world around us changes.
We aim to live lives as simple as possible so that most of our energy goes into seeking and loving God and loving others.

‘Simplicity is indeed often the sign of truth and a criterion of beauty’
